2 layers of premium heavy weight lauhala mat is mounted on 3mm luxury weight felting fabric, completely hemmed with Perform-X premium thread.
Side walls are edge wrapped with double reinforced stitches and invisibly wired.
2.5"-3” comfort band with padded felt lining is machine tacked to the base plate, then carefully hand stitched through the interlocking spaces only so there is no tearing or splitting of the hala leaves
Fully lined Headdress Base & Band with heavy duty Theatrical Grade Velcro Closure for DIY Costuming Lauhala Base Plates are lightly varnished and stay-stitched to headbands with uniform, weight-balanced parallel hand stitches
Lining is solid beige/brown to coordinate with the various shades of naturally dried lauhala leaves, coco palm raffia, and Tapa/Kapa/Siapo/Ngatu
The center line has an extra band of woven lauhala stitched from top to bottom so you can slide a wooden dowel or extra wires inside for stability.
It is also lined with felt and wraps over to the front so the stick won’t poke out or poke your forehead
